good pages

for pages i find with good design, and probably good content as well.

  • i've always deeply admired the structure, and visual design, of these imageboards. they're like a mix of classic phpBB forums and Yotsuba boards. feature rich but nothing is overbearing. lots of neat stats. there's an account system which is entirely optional. i really, really like it. minimalist masterpiece.
  • technically it was first invented by some insane swedish man, but the original is long gone. tinychan copied the design in 2010 to fuck with him, and it stuck.
  • i need to get on minichan's irc and ask the sysop for the source code some day. it's so good that i want to save a copy for myself.
  • the original tinychan design tops the current one as far as minimalism goes, however. the only traces of it are on web archive. i'll grab some screenshots and put them here later. it's been a long dream of mine to resurrect the original by writing it from scratch and basing the HTML and CSS on what I can salvage from archived pages and screenshots.
